Catherine Chalfant is the Director of Tax, Finance and Operations and one of the initial founders of Altum. Catherine started her accounting career at a large regional firm in 2004 and has focused her career in the areas of flow through entities including S Corporations, family real estate partnerships, investment funds (including the management of venture capital, and fund of funds), and operating partnerships as well as planning and compliance for high net worth individuals and their families. Catherine also has experience with tax planning and compliance related to qualified small business stock, stock option planning, and multi-state operations.
Catherine is also responsible for on-boarding, training and development schedules, performance management, employee retention, benefits management, and employee relations policies and strategies as well as implementing human resource management strategies that enable Altum to recruit, train, and retain a high performing and motivated workforce. In addition, Catherine is in charge of the internal financials and overall operations including payroll, budgeting, financial statements, and tax compliance for Altum.
Catherine received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Santa Clara University. She also completed her Masters of Science in Taxation from San Jose State University.
Outside of working, Catherine enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, kickboxing, playing volleyball, and sneaking in a good nap when possible.
